Who qualifies for the $5,000 grant?

Valid proof of ownership of the residence
That the property is their primary residence
The grants are not available for previous installations. An old window's frame can be used to install a new window unit on, but replacements of only the glass, sash, or door without a frame are not acceptable. $250 maximum per rough opening with a $5,000 maximum.

$250 for replacing your windows or sliding doors with ENERGY STAR-certified most efficient models:
U-Factor of 1.05 W/m²K or less or
Energy Rating ≥ 40

How does the process work?

Step 4: Post-Retrofit Evaluation
Once your home improvement has been made you can book a post-retrofit evaluation. At the scheduled appointment, the advisor will confirm which retrofits were undertaken and provide an estimate of the grant amount you may be eligible for.
Step 5: Request Your Grant
After your post-retrofit appointment, upload any receipts and documents as proof at the Canada Greener Homes online portal or mail them. At this point, you can also request your reimbursement. Homeowners can expect to receive their reimbursement within a month after their energy-efficient upgrades are certified. The process involves submitting a post-retrofit application through their window and door installation supplier.
